As part of learning about life-cycles Class 1 looked after and cared for 5 caterpillars. They watched them go into their cocoon and after a short time hatch as 5 beautiful ‘Painted Ladies’ – we have released them all. Well done Class 1!

Today, we welcomed Kate from Applause Theatre School who worked with the whole school on voice projection, movement and timing. Pourquoi? Well, it’s a confidence thing and something that will help our children express themselves clearly. And this is always a good thing….
If you’re interested in doing some workshop out of school, Applause are at St. John’s RC School each Friday after school. You’re very welcome to come along and try some free taster sessions.

Wow! What a fabulous turnout for our World Book Day today..!
Congratulations on Rose, Emily and Molly for winning the class Fancy Dress competitions. But really the costumes were so brilliant that poor Melanie our support therapist had an IMPOSSIBLE job to try and choose.
Have a look underneath at some of the photos and you’ll see what we mean.
Thanks so much for helping to make this such an enjoyable day.

Class Three have already received their homework in case of such an event.
Children can choose from;
We are aware that there have been school and nursery closures due to the inclement weather conditions across the country and expect these to continue on World Book Day. We’re so pleased that children and young people are looking forward to going to schools and nurseries to celebrate World Book Day but strongly encourage everyone to be safe and practical as they make decisions regarding changing plans.
World Book Day is about encouraging children and young people to read and love books and, whatever the weather, 15 million £1 book tokens are already with schools and nurseries across the UK and Ireland. We will be extending the token redemption period beyond 25 March to ensure that everyone is able to use them so please do distribute them when you can. The extension period will be confirmed depending on the weather in the coming days.
We know a great deal of teachers, nursery staff, parents, children and young people will have put effort into activities for tomorrow. We’re encouraging schools, nurseries and families to Share A Story and celebrate World Book Day as and when they can, in whatever way they can, so that children can celebrate reading, share stories with their teachers, families and peers, and so time and effort spent on costumes and activities does not go to waste.
In the meantime, if you find yourself snowed in tomorrow, go ahead and celebrate World Book Day anyway, dress up if you’d like to, but most importantly, find time in the day to share a story, to read, to enjoy books. Here are some fun ways you and the children and young people in your school or setting can still join in and Share A Story at home:
Tune in to our online book shows
Encourage children to start our fun Reach For The Stars Reading Challenge
Find out the results of our poll to find the nation’s Top 100 Stories to Share
Snuggle up on the sofa and listen to our 20 FREE FULL-LENGTH AUDIOBOOKS including The Lonely Beast, 13-Storey Treehouse, The Legend of Podkin One-Ear, Fish Boy and Rebel of the Sands
For lots more fun activities, visit www.worldbookday.com/ideas/share-a-story/
You can participate on social media with #shareastory. We look forward to hearing how you’re celebrating.
Happy reading and story sharing!

Just to let you know that we will be celebrating ‘World Book Day’ this year on Monday 5th March.
The children can dress up as their favourite book character for that day. We’ll be sharing favourite books, telling stories and doing a book swap. So – if you have any books that the children no longer bother with or have outgrown, then please do send them along and then your child will be able to hopefully swap it for something new…er!
Look forward to see what the children have planned – if you need any inspiration, then direct your browsers over to ;

Miss Shotton & the E-Cadets performed a fabulous play for the whole school today to get us all thinking about E-Safety. The E-Cadets wrote and performed several scenarios and the children had to respond to each one – if they thought it was good practice or not. Thanks very much indeed to everyone involved for such a thoughtful assembly.
